Le Terrazze - Marches, Italy

AMONG THE MARCHES FINEST

Twenty or so years ago, E&R's introduction to Le Terrazze was not via any Bob Dylan synchronicity (Antonio is a crazed Dylan fan), but came about rather during a dinner about twenty miles from the winery. We'd heard about "Sassi Neri", an award winning red from the Marches, and, it was on the menu, and, the restaurant was at our hotel - no drive after dinner - and, it was really really good, and, our solo E&R traveler ordered it, and drank it, all of it (for the first and only time consuming a whole bottle at dinner, or any evening for that matter). Late the next morning said diner called the winery and the friendship began.

During our first ten+ years - our best selling red wine as they say "period" - was Antonio Terni's remarkable Rosso Conero. Then in Shakespearean plots of haze and confusion, supply was, too as they say - "messed up." All that is in the past now...

Many wines of Italy's central east coast Marches remain more or less a secret. With its great selection of top wine values, that is good news for wine lovers. Between some incredible Verdicchio wines and the great red grape of the zone, Montepulciano, value is as good as it gets. Le Terrazze's wines are splendid at each price level.

Happily, a new fresh supply of many of the Le Terrazze wines are arriving in early Fall to add to a few of the wines we now have - all in short supply.
