Rosavica Benotti: Great, Affordable Piedmont Wines

FOUR BRAND NEW ROERO WINES:
NEBBIOLO, BARBERA AND DOLCETTO

INTRODUCING
ROSAVICA BENOTTI

A little bit north of Alba-not far at all from the Matteo Correggia winery-you’ll find the family-run, artisanal producer Rosavica Benotti, E&R’s latest “almost direct imports” offerings.

The family has been growing grapes since the ‘50s, with commercial bottlings beginning a tad less than a decade ago. Founded by Rosavica and her husband Antonio (who do the farming, all sustainable), their small winery is managed by their son, the winemaker Ermanno.

Rosavica, Antonio and Ermanno are the classic family run winery, with the pleasant and important twist of know-how, passion and skill. Their’s is a modest operation from a total vineyard size of less than five football fields (american football).

The Benotti’s annual production, from the famed Roero’s sandy soils, is some 1700 cases. We got 22 of them!

Langhe DOC Dolcetto 2022
Delicious dolcetto from more clay soil in their area: cherry notes, darker violet color, plush finish and wildly food friendly. Made in concrete and stainless steel, many of the vines are from plantings in 1965. $20.00

Barbera D’Alba DOC 2022
Splendid, chewy, fragrant and inviting wine. Stainless steel, forty-five year old vines. Tastes great now and will be pretty yummy for a number of years? Try with your favorite pasta and some spicy red sauce or while checking in on Bosch Legacy Season two. $24.00

Langhe Nebbiolo DOC 2022
A knock out; dry and tense with scents wild flavors and roses bursting from the glass. Medium-light reddish colors meld with black fruits and a bit of power on the finish. Correggia nebbiolo fans will love this (as will lovers of well made red wine). $27.50

Roero DOCG 2020
Just released, the Benotti’s Roero DOCG red is an exciting wine. Bold red from sandy soils and higher altitude, Ermanno’s Roero, a complex red, is garnet-colored, smooth/velvety and has a long, pure finish. From forty-year-old vines, this will age and take on even more complexity, enjoy now, but save a few bottles for five years down the road. $37.00
